following strategies are implemented in enhancing and supporting academic
instruction and student achievement in the curriculum. All subjects
utilize computer technology as a vehicle and resource to understanding
subject matter. |

- Arabic

This instruction is designed to provide students opportunities
for speaking, listening, reading and writing Arabic on a
regular basis.

Students benefit from Arabic conversation time during class.
and use audio and visual eqipment for improvement of pronounciation.

- English
- Students
develop language skills by combining direct instruction,
cooperative small groups, independent research assignments,
student reports, dramatic and artistic displays.

Incorporate auido-visual materials in the instructional
process incuding films that connect with literature.

Reading materials that reflect the best in our culture and
the cultures of the world.
- Develop
and teach a list of core literary/ literary terms and devices
for each grade level.

- Mathematics
- Students
are required to demonstrate an ability to use problem solving
skills.

Instructional materials/manipulatives are used by teachers
and students on a routine basis to introduce or reinforce
concepts.

More opportunities are provided for practical math application
(sports/shopping) and students are encouraged to participate
in exctra curricular activities like math contests.
- Methods
of cooperative learning and peer tutoring are implemented.

- Science
- Students
are encouraged to participate in the annual Science Fair
with projects that are multi-curicullar.
A variety of teaching methods are used to develop students'
understanding of scientific concepts.
- Stress
is put on scientific literary skills by assigning outside
reading, research in content area, and oral presentation
of scientific facts and current developments.
- Students
are allowed to perform experiments and are taken on science
related field trips.

Studies & Islamic Studies
- Infusion
of Islamic culture, Islamic History and African American
History with American and World History, Geography and U.S.
Governement / Economics

Use of current magazines, etc as issues for debate, discussions,
writing activities and value clarification to develop critical
th inking in students.

Students learn how to interpret maps, graphs, and charts
as well as listing facts/opinions, cause/effects and relations
to history/geography.
